Hello there and welcome HeroClix Masterminds to another insight into the design of HeroClix! This is PJ Bolin, writing my first article in my new Special Playtest Lead role, and I am hoping to bring a lot of insight into some of the things that we will all get to play with in the very near future! Today, we will be reviewing a bit of the past. We have several mechanics returning in this set that people have known and loved, but with some slight adjustments!

WALL-CRAWLER
The first one up for discussion is the return of Wall-Crawler! What Spider-Man set would be complete without it? Our friendly neighborhood Spider-Men are well known for their ability to climb (and leap) up walls. This trait was something that just seemed to naturally be added into the set to help increase the mobility and overall fun of several figures! When played in conjunction with the various terrain markers, you can turn a map into your own playground for these figures!
FRIENDS ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE
As you may have noticed by the name of the set, Spider-Verse is a central part of the design. The original “Call in Help from the Spider-Verse” trait from Marvel HeroClix: Superior Foes of Spider-Man was a really neat way to synergize the various Spideys. The new design deviates a bit from the original, removing the randomness but toning down the power level slightly to account for the increased consistency. They were still able to bring this trait back in a very fun way!
GLIDER
Pulling from much more recent history, we have the Glider! Piggybacking off the fan reception for the Motorcycle and Hellcycle, the HeroClix design team wanted to bring that back a little bit here with Green Goblin’s favorite vehicle. Giving access to 6 different standard powers, as well as giving flight, will mean that this is something equipment lovers will enjoy!
EXPENDABLE GOONS
Last, and certainly not least, they wanted to bring back this lovely trait! Overall community enjoyment of this trait has been heard loud and clear. Generics in general have always been something that players, and collectors alike, love to see. Adding this trait made it infinitely more fun to play the pieces you like! The more that they keep creating, the more combos that can exist with past goons, future goons, and the many bosses! I know that I, personally, would love to see this trait continue on in each and every set that it makes sense for.
To wrap up, I just wanted to take a brief moment to thank the community for the outpouring of love that came alongside the announcement of my new role. I hope that I can live up to all of your kind words! I look forward to seeing everyone at upcoming events!
