It's Special Playtest Lead, PJ, back once again with another HeroClix Design Insight! Marvel HeroClix: Smash and Destroy is CRUSHING tabletops worldwide, so let's take a look at it! 

This set has tons of excellent interaction with terrain markers so you can really broaden your horizons on the ways you can affect a map!  

Before you can Smash and destroy things, however, they have to be on the map! Let's start by exploring the new terrain markers, as well as various figures that CREATE terrain to interact with! 

We will start off with the new type of terrain marker created especially for Smash and Destroy: Traps! We have Laser Turret, Snake Pit, Piranha Tank, Flamethrower, and Pit Trap. 

Each terrain marker has a unique effect and is fun to activate! Using a character with Super Strength to drop one underneath a character with 2 action tokens is a sneaky way to force that interaction in a favorable way!  

Arcade SD026 also works effortlessly with the traps, and he certainly has a way to truly bring Murderworld into HeroClix! If you want to build around traps, Arcade is one of the best figures for your team! He can even help protect vulnerable squares in your team's defenses to punish close attackers for coming near! 

Instead of starting with a bunch of terrain, you can always generate them! There are over a dozen figures in this set that can generate terrain markers to be used during the game. However, it's important to note that certain effects, like the one for Sindr, don't specify that these have to be markers this particular character generated. Therefore, her poison can work through any Fire Terrain Markers generated by any character.   

Some of the figures that generate terrain create markers very specific to their own effects.  These are the characters that truly embody what HeroClix design is all about! The HeroClix Design Team flexes their creativity using markers to represent new and exciting choices to introduce characters in ways we haven’t seen before! Some of these include Freyja’s Storyline marker, Cap’s Arena, and Hazmat’s Radiation! I, personally, cannot wait to explore building with these characters!

Smash and Destroy is available now, so make sure you head over to your nearest FLGS and pick it up! If you aren't able to get any locally, head on over here and buy it directly from your local shop or online from WizKids.
