Greetings HeroClix Fans,

Welcome back to another exciting preview from the upcoming Marvel HeroClix: 15th Anniversary – What If? set! Today, we’re looking at a piece stacked with options and abilities – the Goblin King!

HeroClix | Marvel HeroClix: What If? - Goblin King

Hailing from the What If? story where the Green Goblin stole the Infinity Gauntlet, the Goblin King can be played at a 275-point value with 10 clicks of life, a 175-point value with 8 clicks of life, or a 75-point value with 4 clicks of life. Each carries a range of 7 squares with 1 target, and each can make use of the Power Cosmic team ability, while they are able to be played on Dark Avengers, Monster, and Ruler themed teams.

The Goblin King carries two traits. The first of which, called Force You to Relive Your Worst Nightmare, states that when an opposing character misses Goblin King with an attack, after actions resolve give that character a Nightmare token. Characters with a Nightmare token modify their attack values by -1. Additionally, when a character with a Nightmare token makes an attack, after actions resolve remove one Nightmare token from that character. His second trait is called Infinity Gauntlet. This trait allows the Goblin King to be given a free action, letting him choose two standard powers. Goblin King can use the chosen powers until he chooses again.

As far as standard powers go, Goblin King has a mix that makes him both hard to hit and hard to nail down. He carries Phasing/Teleport, Sidestep, Invincible, Impervious, Invulnerability, Toughness, Probability Control, and Perplex. Utilizing the Infinity Gauntlet trait, you can easily mix in lethal combinations like Shape Change and Super Senses, or Flurry and Blades/Claws/Fangs. The mixtures from his trait, along with the already significant standard power selections makes this incredibly formidable character even more difficult to deal with.

That’s it for today, HeroClix fans! We hope your appetite is whetted with the possibilities Goblin King presents – he’s truly a powerhouse, and is a lot of fun to play.
