Hello HeroClix Masterminds!

What a week! If you're winding down from all of the action and excitement of Origins Game Fair, we're right there with you!

First and foremost, we wanted to thank our fans for coming out in full force. The energy from our fans is always epic, and connecting with them at Origins Game Fair is a highlight for the entire WizKids team. The fellowship and sportsmanship HeroClix players share with one another is unparalleled.

As the dust settles on the HeroClix battlefield, we wanted to take a chance to congratulate our winners, share their stories, and give fans insights into awesome strategies.

Silver Age Sinestro!

Jacob Bishop has mastered utilizing Prime Sinestro. He has placed in the Top 4 at major Silver Age events in Memphis 2025, at HeroClix for Huntington's 2026, and took home the championship from the Origins 2026 Silver Age Championship.

One of the intended goals of Silver Age is that players can find a team they love, and specialize in making it their own. They'll study unique opportunities for  that team compared to the current metagame, they'll comb through new releases for gems exclusively valuable for their gameplan, and find a way to bring a surprise twist to strategies they may already be known for.

If you're unfamiliar with Sinestro 041b from Lantern Legacy, you might be in for a surprise. Sinestro is able to stop characters from positively modifying their combat values – so foes that wanted to Perplex up their range, or take advantage of Close Combat Expert for additional damage, might find themselves grasping at straws for options.

John Constantine 046 from Masters of Time stops other characters from using Probability Control. When combined with Sinestro, you can begin to see the control package coming together: you're going to need to be very lucky to land a hit on Jacob's team!

Team Sealed – A Family Victory!

This year, the Team Sealed Championship was won by the Bobeldyk family! Denny, Brody, and Tyson were able to use Venom, Phoenix, and Eganrac to crush the competition!

Denny actually learned how to play HeroClix from his sons!

US National Championships – Mirror, Mirror

The US National Championships metagame had many surprise teams – but would they come out on top? Pieces that competitive players are familiar with like Animal Man, the Bloodstone, and Betelgeuse all saw a lot of representation, with 30+ teams using each of them.

The finals was a mirror match where Betelgeuse (Avatar of Animal Man) and 2 copies of Eganrac faced off. The players recreated Betelgeuse's iconic pose together.

Isaac and Kaleb had different equipment on their Eganracs from one another. With Impervious, Shape Change, Probability Control, Willpower, Supersenses, and Leadership in the mix (not to mention attacks!) these players must have rolled over 100 dice during their game!

One of the notable strategy points was that Kaleb's Bloodstone had the ability to reduce opposing healing, but only if he wasn't adjacent to Isaac's Eganrac. At the same time, Kaleb wanted to be adjacent to shut down Isaac's Destroyer Armor and Longsword. It's tough to say exactly which turn was the deciding one, but there was a point during the game where Isaac scored a critical hit, only for Kaleb to have a critical miss on the very next turn.

For long-term HeroClix players, they probably recognize Isaac as the winningest HeroClix player of all time, with a World Championship win and multiple National Championship titles to his name. He continues to cement his legacy.

The remainder of the top 8 had some very cool teams as well:

The HeroClix metagame is about to get a big shakeup with the release of DC HeroClix: Fight for Gotham City. Players will enjoy a fresh challenge, taking Batman, his allies, and enemies into consideration as they build their next teams. Will the secret to the next big team be inside the brand-new Vault Booster? We look forward to seeing the brilliant and creative teams that players will come up with next.
