Players can find X-Men X of Swords Storyline Organized Play Events by visiting the WizKids Info Network (“WIN”) to discover stores local to them running the event series. Login to reserve a seat at an X-Men X of Swords event near you!

The Marvel HeroClix: X-Men X of Swords Storyline Organized Play (OP) Event Series features ALL NEW and UNIQUE content based on the epic crossover comic event X of Swords that features a tournament to decide the fate of all mutantkind.
The Marvel HeroClix: X-Men X of Swords Storyline Organized Play Event Series is a three-month tournament series held at participating game stores featuring exclusive participation prizes, limited edition prize figures, and tarot cards each month.
Stores order Storyline OP kits directly from their distributor. Each month’s OP kit is BIGGER and MORE EXCITING than the previous kit!
Each Month 1 Kit Contains:
- 10 Month-Specific Storyline OP Boosters

- 10 Participation Tarot Cards
- 1 OP Addendum and Instruction Sheet

We recommend that stores order the same number of kits for each month. Stores can’t order more of the Month 2 OP Kit than they did of the Month 1 OP Kit, and they can’t order more of the Month 3 OP Kit than they did of the Month 2 OP Kit. The Month 3 OP kit contains the Month 3 prizes, and the Grand Prizes. No retail store location may order more than 2 tournament kits in total.
Each Marvel HeroClix: X-Men X of Swords OP Kit contains five (5) double-sided HeroClix maps which are specifically designed to be used as either a standard 2’ x 3’ map or a 2’ x 2’ map. When using the maps in a 2’ x 2’ format, the squares outside of the dotted orange lines are not used (so the playable map area is 2’ x 2’) and players use the squares inside the dotted purple lines as starting areas.
RETAILER NOTE: If you anticipate a large turnout, you’ll want to save maps from Month 1 to use in Months 2 and/or 3. You can always give them out as prizing during Month 3 or in later tournaments.
Events are run using the standard Battle Royale drafting and game play format with the following noted exceptions:
- Swords
When players first open their Marvel HeroClix: X-Men X of Swords Storyline Organized Play booster pack, they draft the Sword equipment object that was included in their pack.
- Tarot Cards
When players first open their Marvel HeroClix: X-Men X of Swords Storyline Organized Play booster pack, they each contribute the Tarot Card from their pack along with 1 Major Arcana Participation Prize Tarot Cards from the Marvel HeroClix: X-Men X of Swords Storyline Organized Play Tournament Kit to form a shared deck of 5 Tarot Cards. Players should make a note of which card they pulled from their pack; these cards are theirs to keep at the end of the event.

- Sword Bearers
For the games in this event series, all characters have the following trait:
SWORD BEARER This character starts the game with any Sword equipment equipped.
NOTE: Many characters in the X of Swords Storyline Organized Play booster packs have the above as an Optional Trait. For this event, every character is granted this same effect so you can assign your Sword to any character on your force, and it starts the game with it equipped.
- Respawn
When a figure is KO’d, after the figure has been removed from the map and scored, the controlling player generates that figure in a square in their Starting Area.
Step 1: Open New Figures!
- Players will get to open their booster pack!
Step 2: Draft!
- Players will draft the Sword equipment object that was included in their pack.
- Players will choose a figure from the pack they opened and take its associated card, and then pass the remainder of the pack to the player on their left.
- When they receive a booster pack from the player on their left, players choose one of the remaining figures in that pack (along with its associated card) to draft into their force and then pass the remainder of the pack to the player on their left.
- Repeat two more times until each player has 4 figures (plus associated cards) and 1 sword object.
Step 3: Play!
- Players play a Battle Royale style event with placement of players determined by the highest total points of game elements KO’d during the game. Players are awarded tournament points that count toward winning the Grand Prize for the Marvel HeroClix: X of Swords Storyline Organized Play Series.
- The top finishers each month will earn prizes.
Step 4: Come Back!
- In Months 2 and 3, players have chances to collect new figures, win new prizes, and earn more points towards the Grand Prizes!

Marvel HeroClix: X-Men X of Swords has been specially crafted to motivate players to come back to your store for three consecutive months. Each month contains exclusive participation prizes, each kit contains limited edition prize figures, each kit’s boosters contain select figures unavailable anywhere else, and every month players can earn points towards the Grand Prize. Unlike standard boosters, players are guaranteed to get one of the unique new sword objects that they can equip on any of their characters for this event. With these sword objects and the all-new Tarot cards also included in boosters and given out as a participation prize, players will experience a fresh play experience that is unique to previous Organized Play kits every month.
Players who attend all three months will have the best chance of winning the Grand Prize at the end, but also will be able to collect more of the exclusive figures and Tarot Cards that are unique to each month’s boosters. Stores being limited to how much product they can order each month helps keep the content exclusive and desirable to players. With the event only lasting three months, it’s an easy call to action to get players to return for a shot at the Grand Prize. Even if someone misses a month, they’ll have a chance at taking home the Grand Prize.
Players who don’t have a large HeroClix collection can start out at this event on equal footing with the other players in your store, so even the casual crowd should feel encouraged to participate. The pool of figures being relatively small means that they’re likely to get to watch the most experienced players at your venue play some of the same figures they will – which is a great way to learn a thing or two for their next match.
How do stores qualify to participate in this Summer OP Event?
Stores will be selected based on a combination of their OP participation and sales history. Stores not selected can ask their distributor to be considered for this event series.
Registration
Since quantities (and space) are limited, we recommend stores that are able to take pre-registration do so.
Entry Fee
For stores running the event as recommended, $25 is the recommended entry fee.
