Note: As this event series will be held at selected stores with a limited supply of product and limited seating, participating stores may require pre-registration and/or pre-payment. Please contact your local store directly to ask about their registration policies.

The 2024 Deadpool Store Championships is a HeroClix tournament held at participating game stores featuring exclusive participation prizes, limited edition prize figures, and the chance to claim the title of Store Champion. The recommended format for this tournament is 300-Point Modern.

We suggest stores host their event between Wednesday, July, 3 and Wednesday, July 31, 2024. Best attended events will include pre-registration and local communication at least 2 weeks prior the tournament date

All Modern-legal maps may be used in 2024 Deadpool Store Championships. Participants should bring their own maps.

Tournaments with more than 8 players should be held ‘Swiss’ style in 300-Point Modern format. A ‘Swiss’ tournament should have a number of rounds based on attendance. Players are never eliminated, regardless their number of losses. Pairings should be determined by win/loss record (pair players against other competitors with the same record). Winner can be determined by final standings after the primary Swiss rounds or cut to top 8 and have a single-elimination playoff to determine winner.

4 or fewer players, run 2 single-elimination rounds (no Swiss)

5-8 players, run 3 single-elimination (no Swiss)

9-16 players, run 4 rounds of Swiss with cut to top 8

17-32 players, run 5 rounds of Swiss with cut to top 8

33-64 players, run 6 rounds of Swiss with cut to top 8

300-Point Modern describes the number of points each team is allotted, comprised of only figures from sets and promos from Modern-legal releases.

Each kit supports approximately 16 players. The following are WizKids recommended prize distribution for each component in the 2024 Deadpool Store Championship kit:

-16 Trophy Case (2-D terrain pieces); these should be given to each player in your event as a participation prize.

-12 Trophy Object (3-D equipment piece with corresponding card); these should be distributed to top-finishing players (or 1 for each of the top 8 finishers and 4 for Flex Prizes).

-4 Marvel HeroClix: Deadpool figure (with corresponding card); one should be awarded to the winner of the event (Grand Prize), others may go to judges/event staff, fellowship/sportsmanship, and Flex Prizing.

We also recommend cumulative prizing; meaning the player to get 2nd place receives everything 3rd/4th place gets plus additional prizing.

Stores can use surplus prize elements to prize more deeply or run the 2024 Deadpool Store Championship event a second time, support judges and staff, or apply towards future organized play events.

The 2024 Deadpool Store Championship kit has been specially crafted to motivate players to come to your store for an exciting tournament awarding exclusive prizes. The Trophy Case, Trophy, and Champion Deadpool figure have been created just for this event and won’t be available anywhere else. This is only the first in a series of Store Championships planned for HeroClix.

Between participation/Flex Prize support and the chance to claim the Grand Prize (Champion Deadpool figure/card), this event should appeal to players ranging from casual to competitive. With the event taking place over a single day, it’s an easy call to action to get players to compete for a shot at the Grand Prize and have fun playing HeroClix in your store.

How do stores qualify to participate in this Summer OP Event?

Stores will be selected based on a combination of their OP participation, expressed interest, and sales history. Stores not selected can ask their distributor to be considered for this event series.

Registration

Since quantities (and space) are limited, we recommend stores that can take pre-registration do so.

Entry Fee

For stores running the event as recommended, $15 is the suggested entry fee*. Stores are expected to advertise their entry fee in advance. Contact your local store with questions about entry fees.
