Public Relations Specialist at WizKids
Internationally recognized tabletop gaming company is seeking a Public Relations Specialist to assist their busy team.
As a PR Specialist, you will work directly with WizKids marketing, sales, product managers and external partners to help develop messages and informative materials for both the media and retail partners.
Responsibilities
- Must be available to work on site in either our Cary, NC or Hillside, NJ office.
- Help develop overall PR strategy and plans based on WizKids’ business objectives.
- Create stories and adapt them to specific audiences to deliver value and build fondness for WizKids and our line of games.
- Help create, review and approve external announcements with various stakeholders.
- Manage available resources to pitch media, build and edit press materials, distribute news and monitor results.
- Send review samples, product images or other material to members of the press and follow up on coverage.
- Handle communications with enthusiast gaming, mainstream, and other targeted outlets.
- Attend and present WizKids’ latest releases at consumer and industry trade show events as well as retailer/distributor webinars.
Required Skills/Experience
- Must be organized, flexible and able to work with multiple stakeholders.
- Dependable relationships with journalists and industry peers.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Use of good judgment and ability to communicate clearly and professionally with fellow team members, public and press.
- A passion for physical games and an up-to-date knowledge of industry news and trends.
- History of successfully developed strategies to achieve PR objectives in previous role(s)
- Previous PR work with tabletop and videogame developers and publishers is a plus.
- Previously secured top-tier media coverage on behalf of current or previous employer or client.
- Excellent computer skills – fluent with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
