The Men in the Iron Masks

Rookie Difficulty

1) The Game State

It has been an exciting game, but your opponent has managed to get the upper hand. You only have 1 life left, but your opponent has 8 life. Your only hope is to get the win right now, because you most likely won’t last another turn.

2) The Play Area

Your Opponent has the following dice in the field:

  • Level 1 Pyro
  • Level 1 Ant-Man

You have the following dice:

  • Level 1 Iron Man in the field and after your roll and Reroll, you have the following which is in your reserve pool:
  • Level 2 Namor
  • Level 3 Iron Man
  • 1 Sidekick on the Sidekick Character face
  • 3 Sidekicks on the Wild energy face
  • 1 Dr. Doom die on the single Shield face

3) The Teams

Your Opponent’s Team:

  • Ant-Man: Biophysicist
  • Pyro: Saint-John Allerdyce
  • Cable: Man of Action

Your Team:

  • Namor: The Sub Mariner
  • Iron Man: Upright
  • Doctor Doom: Nemesis

Basic Action Cards:
Enrage

The most important thing to note is that Namor: The Sub-Mariner being unblockable, and all the energy you could spend on the Enrage Basic Action Card’s Global Ability is misleading. You will only be able to get through for 7 damage, which is not enough. Additionally, Namor needs you to have two different characters fielded for his ability to work.

Additionally, Cable’s Global Ability is not used, even though it’s tempting, it just won’t get the job done.

The secret is to use Dr. Doom’s Global to clear your opponent’s field.

Here we go:

1 – Use your Shield energy to activate Iron Man’s Global Ability to turn your own Iron Man into a Villain.
2 – Use one of the Wild energy as a Shield, and Dr. Doom’s Global Ability to give the opponent’s Pyro -1A and -1D, this knocks him out. *Note – we can do this now because we have a villain in the field, our Iron Man.
3 – Like 2 above, use another Wild energy as a Shield, and Dr. Doom’s Global Ability to give the opponent’s Ant-Man -1A and -1D, this knocks him out, leaving your opponent’s field empty.
4 – With the last Wild energy, pay the fielding cost for your Namor.
5 – Field your Sidekick. (The last Iron Man die in the Reserve Pool is also a decoy, we just don’t have enough energy to get him into the Field Zone and still win this turn.)
6 – Now you can attack with the three characters we have in play:
Iron Man – 3 Attack
Namor – 4 Attack
Sidekick – 1 Attack

For 8 damage, Victory!
