DC Comics HeroClix: 15th<\/sup> Anniversary – Elseworlds <\/strong><\/a>has DC Comics <\/strong>characters straight from the pages of some of DC Comics<\/strong> best-selling alternate universe and alternate reality storylines.<\/p>\n

Continuing with the previews, we have one of the four chase figures in the set, Batman <\/strong>in his powered suit from the legendary and influential The\u00a0Dark Knight Returns<\/strong> miniseries by Frank Miller.<\/p>\n

The Dark Knight Returns<\/strong> was one of several stories written in the mid 1980s that helped to change the comic book industry and audience. These comics inspired a generation of artists, writers, and readers, by proving that comic books are a medium to tell great stories with character and depth.\u00a0 In The<\/strong> Dark Knight Returns<\/strong>, set in a grim future with a prolonged Cold War as the backdrop, Batman <\/strong>and most other heroes had either retired from crime fighting or were outlawed unless they worked for the government.\u00a0 Gray haired and feeling his age at 50, Bruce Wayne<\/strong> dons the cape and cowl again to take back the streets of Gotham from the rising Mutants gang.\u00a0 The story climaxes with a knockdown-drag out fight between Superman <\/strong>and a specially armored Batman<\/strong>.\u00a0 In the whole of the DC Comics Multiverse<\/strong>, the events of The Dark Knight Returns<\/strong> occur on Earth-31.<\/p>\n

To bring this Batman<\/strong> to your tabletop, he costs 100 points and brings a healthy dose of hit and run tactics to your team.\u00a0 He can help build a theme team with Batman Family<\/em>, Gotham City<\/em>, and Future<\/em> keywords.\u00a0 He also has the Batman Ally <\/em>team ability granting him Stealth<\/em> for the whole game and a trait; The Dark Knight Returns:\u00a0 We\u2019ve Always Been Criminals<\/em>, that lets you place Batman<\/strong> in hindering terrain within 4 squares and line of fire after he takes a non-free action in clear terrain.\u00a0 Add that in with the Indomitable <\/em>ability, granting him Willpower <\/em>and Improved Movement:\u00a0 Ignores Hindering Terrain,<\/em> and you see you can make excellent use of his top dial Charge<\/em>.\u00a0 Start a turn in hindering terrain, Charge<\/em> in to attack someone in clear terrain, push next turn to keep attacking, and then jump back into hindering while you wait to clear his action tokens.<\/p>\n

Speaking of Batman\u2019s <\/strong>dial, he starts with Charge<\/em>, Precision Strike<\/em>, Toughness<\/em>, and a special damage power Striking Terror\u2026 Best Part Of The Job <\/em>that lets him use Outwit <\/em>and Shape Change<\/em>.\u00a0 After two clicks of Charge<\/em>, he switches over to Flurry <\/em>but keeps the Precision Strike<\/em> to make sure his two attacks land some damage.\u00a0 When he loses his special power, he picks up regular Outwit<\/em> and changes Toughness <\/em>for Combat Reflexes.<\/em> He finishes up with Sidestep<\/em> and Close Combat Expert<\/em> with one final click that has Regeneration<\/em> and Outwit<\/em>.\u00a0 Even though he has a very close combat oriented dial, don\u2019t forget he also has a 5 range value so he can still snipe targets from his hiding spot in hindering terrain! His attack value never drops below 11 for all of his 7 clicks of life.<\/p>\n
