Welcome back as we continue our series of previews for our upcoming Marvel HeroClix:<\/strong>\u00a0<\/a>Avengers\/Defenders War\u00a0<\/strong>set!\u00a0 Today, we thicken the plot and give you the opportunity to tell the comic stories with the Title Character,<\/em> Dr. Strange, Earth\u2019s Guardian<\/strong>!<\/p>\n<\/div>

\"Marvel<\/a><\/span><\/div>

Title Characters<\/em>, as introduced in the Marvel HeroClix: Deadpool & X-Force<\/strong><\/a> set, are Super-Rare <\/em>versions of iconic characters with a trait that gives them Title Character Abilities<\/em>. Noted on the inside of their cards, these abilities unfold to reveal how these characters can build up to have a lasting impact on the game.<\/p>\n

Dr. Strange, Earth\u2019s Guardian<\/strong> has two Continuity Effects<\/em> that are always active and cannot be ignored and three Title Character Abilities <\/em>that cannot be countered or ignored.\u00a0 Dr. Strange<\/strong> begins the game with 2 Plot Points<\/em>, which, as a free action, you may spend or accrue once per turn to activate his Title Character Abilities<\/em>. With Every Scrap Of Hidden Sorcery,<\/em> you gain one Plot Point<\/em> to modify the damage value of Dr. Strange<\/strong> or an adjacent friendly character by +1 for the turn. \u00a0Dr. Strange, Earth\u2019s Guardian<\/strong> can dissuade or punish the opponent for attacking his allies with The Last Days Of Magic,<\/em> which lets you spend a single Plot Point <\/em>to give all adjacent friendly characters the Mystics <\/em>team ability until your next turn.\u00a0 If you can spend 4 Plot Points,<\/em> you can get the greatest benefit of the Sorcerer Supreme<\/em> and reroll any attack roll once each turn as long as Dr. Strange, Earth\u2019s Guardian<\/strong> is on the map.\u00a0 Be careful to protect the good doctor and not to spend your Plot Points <\/em>unwisely. You cannot spend Plot Points<\/em> if doing so takes you below 0 points. As a result of his Continuity Effects<\/em>, if you use a Title Character Ability <\/em>but do not make an attack with Dr. Strange, Earth\u2019s Guardian<\/strong>, he takes a click of unavoidable damage after the Clear Tokens<\/em> step at the end of the turn.\u00a0 Furthermore, after actions resolve when he is KO\u2019d, you must deal two unavoidable damage to the friendly character that was closest to the last square he occupied on the map.<\/p>\n

Now that we know how to use Dr. Strange, Earth\u2019s Guardian<\/strong> as a Title Character<\/em>, let\u2019s look at his combat dial. This dial would be impressive even without the added Title Character Abilities<\/em>, containing a power in every stat slot on every click, healthy combat values, and good damage options.\u00a0 At 80 points, he has the Avengers<\/em> and Mystical <\/em>keywords, the Mystics <\/em>team ability, the Flight <\/em>symbol, and can target a single character at 7 range.\u00a0 On this 6 click dial, he has three different power sets, each for two clicks that represent his spellcasting abilities and several of the magical relics in his possession.\u00a0 Maintaining a fair measure of mobility for his entire dial, Dr. Strange<\/strong> starts with Sidestep<\/em>, Penetrating\/Psychic Blast<\/em>, Energy\/Shield Deflection <\/em>with an impressive 18 defense value, and Probability Control<\/em>.\u00a0 Two clicks in,\u00a0Dr. Strange, Earth\u2019s Guardian<\/strong> unsheathes the Axe of Angaruumus<\/em> to join the melee with Charge<\/em>, Blades\/Claws\/Fangs<\/em>, Combat Reflexes <\/em>with the still mighty 18 defense value, and Exploit Weakness<\/em> to pair with his already high damage dealing potential.\u00a0 If the opponent manages to get past that and onto his last two clicks, you can get Dr. Strange<\/strong> out of harm\u2019s way with Phasing\/Teleport<\/em> and a 12-movement value. Conversely, keep him there to cut away at his foes maintaining Blades\/Claws\/Fangs<\/em>, with the added benefits of Willpower<\/em>, and Outwit<\/em>.<\/p>\n

It took a lot of studying to become the Sorcerer Supreme<\/em>.\u00a0 It won\u2019t take that much to make it happen in HeroClix with Dr. Strange, Earth\u2019s Guardian<\/strong>.\u00a0 <\/strong>Start off by getting him into a long-distance firing position to keep the opponent at bay so he can build up his Plot Points<\/em> for a few turns with Every Scrap Of Hidden Sorcery<\/em> until he can declare himself properly the Sorcerer Supreme<\/em> and manipulate an attack roll to your advantage every turn.\u00a0 Then you can build your Plot Points <\/em>back up and spend them to cause magical backlash on the opponent with The Last Days Of Magic <\/em>ability handing out the Mystics <\/em>team ability to\u00a0Dr. Strange\u2019s <\/strong>teammates.<\/p>\n
