Greetings HeroClix Fans!<\/p>\n

Welcome back to your Clix fix as we review two exciting figures from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles HeroClix<\/strong>:\u00a0 Shredder\u2019s Return <\/strong>set, available at friendly local game stores today!\u00a0 This third\u00a0Gravity Feed set adds even more characters from the\u00a032-years of TMNT history, based on both\u00a0the comics and animated TV\u00a0series.\u00a0 Today we have a pair of Shredders<\/strong> for you, Shredder Clone<\/strong> and the chase Shark Shredder<\/strong>!<\/p>\n<\/div>

In the 1984 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles<\/strong> comic book series the turtles manage to defeat the Shredder <\/strong>rather early on in their careers.\u00a0 Though they thought he was dead, the Shredder<\/strong> later returned to lead the Foot Clan<\/strong> again thanks to a resurrection technique using mystical worms that basically cloned and rebuilt his body.<\/p>\n

Coming in at a healthy 75 points, the Shredder Clone<\/strong> brings a few handy traits to the table in addition to being a close combat dynamo.\u00a0 His first trait, only usable if you pay an extra 10 points when building your force, Ocean Resurrection <\/em>allows you to replace Shredder Clone<\/strong> with #035 Shark Shredder<\/strong> on click #4 and can only be healed when using Steal Energy<\/em> when Shredder Clone <\/strong>would be KO\u2019d.\u00a0\u00a0 (See below, we\u2019ll get to Shark Shredder<\/strong> in minute).\u00a0 His next trait Duel of Twisted Honor <\/em>gives\u00a0 Shredder Clone<\/strong> a little extra protection because at the beginning of the game he can choose an opposing character that is not the lowest point value character on that player\u2019s force and anybody else who attacks Shredder Clone<\/strong> gets -2 to their attack value, unless the chosen character has been KO\u2019d.\u00a0 That should give you plenty of breathing room to get Shredder Clone<\/strong> where you want him because with an 18 defense value and Energy Shield\/Deflection<\/em> and an additional -2 to almost any attacker\u2019s attack value he will be very difficult to hit with a ranged attack.\u00a0 His third trait Shredder Elite<\/em> lets him use Sidestep <\/em>to inch up the map or reposition his footing, but also deals one penetrating damage to any opposing character that he becomes adjacent to when he moves, as long as they were not adjacent to him at the beginning of the turn.<\/p>\n

Going to his dial,\u00a0Shredder Clone<\/strong> has a fairly consistent power set.\u00a0 He has the deadly combination of Flurry<\/em> and Blades\/Claws\/Fangs <\/em>for most of his dial, only wavering on his first and last clicks where he prefers Stealth <\/em>to strike from the shadows or sneak back into them to heal with Regeneration<\/em>.\u00a0 He starts off with a plan for his Foot Clan<\/strong> and uses Leadership <\/em>to get the most out of them, but once he takes a few clicks and his attack value drops from a deadly 12 to a healthy 10, he goes rage blind and picks up Battle Fury<\/em>.\u00a0 Rounding out his dial options,\u00a0Shredder Clone<\/strong> also has Indomitable<\/em> letting him carve up his nefarious schemes as quick as he can.\u00a0 For keywords he can be a strong fixture on a Foot Clan<\/em>, TMNT Villain<\/em>, Mystical<\/em>, Ruler<\/em>, or Warrior<\/em> keyword themed teams.\u00a0 He will be tough to KO for sure, but what happens when he does?\u00a0 If he doesn\u2019t stay down what does he come back as?<\/p>\n<\/div>

Because the sharp teeth on the inside of a shark\u2019s mouth aren\u2019t scary enough,\u00a0Shredder Clone<\/strong> turns into a shark\u00a0with arms, legs, and a few more sharp objects, the Shark Shredder<\/strong>.\u00a0 If he \u00a0enter the game using Shredder Clone\u2019s<\/strong> Ocean Resurrection<\/em> trait, it basically gives him an extra four clicks of life with some Toughness <\/em>to keep him swimming while he has Outwit<\/em> with Stealth <\/em>and Regeneration<\/em> on his very last click.\u00a0 If instead you pay the 130 points to play Shark Shredder<\/strong> at full dial, you’ll have quite a beast on your hands.\u00a0 If he starts the game on your force, his Mystical Worms <\/em>trait kicks in returning him to the map on click #4 the first time he is KO\u2019d directly adjacent to an opposing character of your opponent\u2019s choice, and this trait cannot be ignored.\u00a0 With the Indomitable<\/em> defense symbol, Aquatic<\/em> movement symbol, and the Giant Size <\/em>symbol he doesn\u2019t care much about terrain for movement or pushing himself for actions.\u00a0 Also, with those he gets a little extra close combat reach using Charge<\/em> and an easier time rolling for breakaway from normal sized characters, which is perfect for making use of his second trait, Shredder Elite<\/em>.\u00a0 The Shredder Elite <\/em>trait, shared by the Shredder Clone<\/strong> and the other Shredder<\/strong> chase figures, lets him use Sidestep<\/em> and when he moves, he can deal one penetrating damage to each adjacent character that he did not begin the move adjacent to.\u00a0 At full points he also begins the game with Invulnerability<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Shark Shredder<\/strong> also has two special powers; one on damage that he starts with and one on attack that he gets on his second through fourth clicks.\u00a0 On damage he has Spell Of Reversal<\/em> that takes effect when an opposing character within 6 squares and line of fire makes an attack with an attack or damage value that is higher than their printed value, whether replaced or modified.\u00a0 When that occurs you roll a d6 for each such value that cannot be rerolled; on a 3 to 5 that character uses it\u2019s printed value instead and it is locked, on a 6 they use their printed value -1 as a locked value instead.\u00a0 Those are pretty fair odds of limiting an opponent\u2019s bonuses from Close Combat Expert<\/em>, Ranged Combat Expert<\/em>, Perplex<\/em>, Empower<\/em>, Enhancement <\/em>or traits that increase attack and damage values (like the Turtles figures in the Fast Forces Pack).\u00a0 Getting back to offense, Shark Shredder\u2019s <\/strong>attack special Feed On Your Souls <\/em>lets him use Blades\/Claws\/Fangs <\/em>and Steal Energy<\/em> and also, when he hits a character they cannot be moved or placed until your next turn.<\/p>\n

For keywords, Shark Shredder<\/strong> has Foot Clan<\/em>, TMNT Villain<\/em>, Monster<\/em>, and Warrior<\/em>. If a themed team centered around the Shredder Elite<\/em> strikes your fancy, then Shark Shredder<\/strong>, Mini Shredder<\/strong>, and Shredder Clone<\/strong> get you to 295 points!\u00a0 They\u2019re not much for ranged attacks but they all have Sidestep<\/em> and can deal penetrating damage just for getting adjacent to opposing characters with the Shredder Elite<\/em>.\u00a0 That\u2019s enough to knock a few clicks off all but the most Invincible<\/em> opponents without even rolling for an attack.<\/p>\n
