Greetings once again, HeroClix fans, and welcome to our second Clix-It-Up article from the\u00a0Marvel HeroClix: Superior Foes of Spider-Man<\/strong>\u00a0set. Last time, we dove deep on Peter Parker, and this time we\u2019re looking at one of Peter\u2019s greatest foes \u2013\u00a0Doctor Octopus!\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0\"Clix<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Our first version of\u00a0Doctor Octopus<\/strong>\u00a0is the 055 Super Rare from the\u00a0Superior Foes of Spider-Man<\/strong>\u00a0set. Doc Ock is a six click piece, featuring a pair of spectacular special powers. His first special power,\u00a0Mentally-Controlled Tentacles<\/em>, states that when\u00a0Doctor Octopus<\/strong>\u00a0makes a close attack, he can use\u00a0Giant Reach: 3<\/em>and\u00a0Improved Targeting: Ignores Characters<\/em>. Additionally, you can give\u00a0Doctor Octopus\u00a0<\/strong>a power action to make 4 close attacks that deal 2 damage instead of normal damage. After actions resolve, modify the defensive value of any hit characters by this power more than once this turn by -2 until your next turn. His second special power, called\u00a0Sinister Mastermind<\/em>, lets\u00a0Doctor Octopus<\/strong>\u00a0use both\u00a0Leadership<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Outwit.\u00a0<\/em>And, during your turn, up to two adjacent friendly characters with the\u00a0Sinister Syndicate\u00a0<\/em>keyword may be given power actions to use\u00a0Outwit<\/em>!<\/p>\n

\u00a0\"Clix<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Our next version of Otto Octavius comes from the\u00a0Marvel HeroClix:<\/strong>\u00a0Deadpool<\/strong>\u00a0set, and is the 060 Super Rare\u00a0Superior Spider-Man!<\/strong>\u00a0This version of Otto features the\u00a0Improved Movement<\/em>\u00a0power,\u00a0Web Swinging<\/em>, granting\u00a0Superior Spider-Man<\/strong>\u00a0Ignores Elevated Terrain<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Ignores Hindering Terrain<\/em>. He also has two traits, the first of which is\u00a0A More Ruthless Spider-Man<\/em>, which states that damage dealt by\u00a0Superior Spider-Man<\/strong>\u00a0can\u2019t be reduced below 1. His second trait is called\u00a0Spider-Bots<\/em>, which allows you to give\u00a0Superior Spider-Man<\/strong>\u00a0a free action to roll a d6. If the result is higher than the total number of friendly Spider-Bots currently on the map and attached, you may place a Spider-Bot on the map up to that many squares away. You may also give\u00a0Superior Spider-Man<\/strong>\u00a0a power action to attach an adjacent friendly Spider-Bot if less than two are attached. Lastly are his two special powers, the first of which is called\u00a0Savage Beating<\/em>, granting\u00a0Superior Spider-Man<\/strong>\u00a0the ability to use both\u00a0Charge<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Flurry.\u00a0<\/em>His second special power is called\u00a0Ridding Myself of the Weakling Parker<\/em>, which lets you give\u00a0Superior Spider-Man<\/strong>\u00a0a free action to roll a d6. Once per game, on a result of 3-6, for the rest of the game, modify\u00a0Superior Spider-Man\u2019s\u00a0<\/strong>attack and damage by +1, and damage dealt by him can\u2019t be reduced below 2.<\/p>\n

Stepping into the way back machine, we\u2019re sliding all the way back to the\u00a0Marvel HeroClix:<\/strong>\u00a0Amazing Spider-Man\u00a0<\/strong>set, where we find the 054 Super Rare\u00a0Doctor Octopus<\/strong>. This version of\u00a0Doctor Octopus<\/strong>\u00a0is a support machine, built to sustain and maintain both himself and his\u00a0Sinister Syndicate<\/em>\u00a0teammates. His trait,\u00a0Sinister Mastermind,\u00a0<\/em>states that friendly characters who are adjacent to\u00a0Doctor Octopus\u00a0<\/strong>with the\u00a0Sinister Syndicate<\/em>team ability can\u2019t have their speed or attack powers countered. He also possesses two special powers, the first of which is called\u00a0Four Arms and Four Eyes<\/em>, which allows\u00a0Doctor Octopus<\/strong>\u00a0the ability to use\u00a0Perplex<\/em>\u00a0four times during your turn, but only on himself. His final special power, called\u00a0Tentacles<\/em>, allows\u00a0Doctor Octopus<\/strong>the ability to use\u00a0Flurry<\/em>.\u00a0 Couple all that with four of his six clicks of life having\u00a0Outwit<\/em>, and this is a great fringe version of Doc Ock to confound and harass your opponents.<\/p>\n

\"Clix<\/a><\/p>\n

Finally, we come to the\u00a0Doctor Octopus\u00a0<\/strong>001 LE from this year\u2019s\u00a0Marvel HeroClix: Sinister Syndicate Monthly OP Kit<\/strong>. This version is a lower cost option for your teams, possessing only two special abilities. The first, called\u00a0My Own Form of Brachiation<\/em>, grants\u00a0Doctor Octopus<\/strong>\u00a0Improved Movement: Ignores Elevated Terrain.\u00a0<\/em>His second special ability is his trait, called\u00a0The Arms of the Octopus<\/em>. This trait states that at the beginning of your turn, place up to two Tentacle Pair tokens on this card. For every Tentacle Pair token on this card, modify\u00a0Doctor Octopus\u2019\u00a0<\/strong>defense value by +1. You can also give\u00a0Doctor Octopus\u00a0<\/strong>a power action, removing 1 or 2 Tentacle Pair tokens from this card. \u00a0Until your next turn,\u00a0Doctor Octopus<\/strong>\u00a0can use the Giant Reach ability, which locks his damage value at his printed damage value, and can use\u00a0Flurry<\/em>\u00a0once as a free action for each Tentacle Pair token you removed from this card! This is especially beneficial at the top of his dial, coupling his natural\u00a0Plasticity<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Outwit<\/em>\u00a0with\u00a0Flurry\u00a0<\/em>to really cause trouble for your opponents!<\/p>\n
