Greetings HeroClix Fans!<\/p>\n

Civil War is upon us!\u00a0 Beginning today, June 1st, HeroClix venues all over the world will be holding\u00a0Marvel HeroClix: Civil War Storyline Organized Play<\/strong>\u00a0tournaments.\u00a0 Choose your side, whether you stand with Iron Man on the\u00a0Pro-Registration<\/em>\u00a0side or with Captain America on the\u00a0Anti-Registration<\/em>\u00a0side, both teams are balanced and ready to play.\u00a0 It is up to you, and your dice, to decide who is victorious!<\/p>\n

For all the information regarding the\u00a0Marvel HeroClix:<\/strong>\u00a0Civil War Storyline Organized Play<\/strong>\u00a0events, you can follow this link:\u00a0\u00a0https:\/\/wizkids.com\/heroclix\/marvel-heroclix-civil-war-storyline-organized-play-series\/<\/a><\/p>\n

For today\u2019s discussion, let\u2019s focus on the suggested tournament format of how these events will be run and what players can expect for team building prospects.<\/p>\n

The first three months of Civil War are single booster draft Battle Royales.\u00a0 Players are seated in groups of four, with two having been declared playing \u2018Pro-Registration\u2019 and two for \u2018Anti-Registration\u2019.\u00a0 Each brick of Civil War boosters has 8 regular 5-figure boosters and one Prize Support Pack. There are 2 different 2\u2019x 3\u2019 maps included in the Support Pack\u00a0that have a 2\u2019 x 2\u2019 area on them marked off for a four player setup.\u00a0 Once seating is determined, players open their single booster, check the contents to be sure all characters\u2019 dials are readable and proper cards are included, and then they \u2018draft\u2019 their teams.\u00a0 Each booster contains 2 red based Pro-Registration pieces, 2 dark blue based Anti-Registration pieces, and one black based neutral figure.\u00a0 All players take the neutral figure and the two figures that match their chosen faction and add them to their force.\u00a0 The two remaining figures get passed to the next player of the opposing faction (across or to the left, depending on seating).\u00a0 This way every player has 5 figures to play, 4 of their faction and one neutral.\u00a0 Stores will also distribute the \u2018Bounty Cards\u2019 found in the Support Pack\u00a0randomly to players, based on faction.\u00a0 If you are able to defeat the character depicted on your Bounty Card, then ALL players of your faction (even in other Battle Royales!) can heal a friendly character of their choice 1 click\u00a0at the beginning of their turn!\u00a0\u00a0 Players then determine who goes first, choose starting areas accordingly, and play goes clockwise around the table.<\/p>\n

\"Marvel<\/a><\/p>\n

In Month 1 and Month 3, the format is a standard Battle Royale, so every player for themselves! And Month 2 is a Team Battle Royale, which will have players teaming up with the other player of the same faction! The winner is the player with the most points that they KO\u2019d.\u00a0 After the game is over, all of the figures opened in everyone\u2019s boosters are placed in the middle of the table, along with one of the Prize Foil Packs located in the Support Pack. Then, players \u2018snake draft\u2019 what they are going home with, choosing one figure at a time in the order of 1st\u00a0to 4th\u00a0place and then in reverse order until all figures have been chosen.<\/p>\n

So what can you expect when it comes time to set up your team in your starting area and roll some dice?\u00a0 There are 16 figures for each faction and 9 neutral figures in the\u00a0Marvel HeroClix: Civil War Storyline OP<\/strong>set.\u00a0 With the way figures are distributed and the range of point values of all the characters, every player will have a team of at least 300 points, but likely between 330 and 370.\u00a0 It is recommended that organizers keep players to 3 regular actions per turn.\u00a0 All the available figures are either 60, 70, 80, or 90 points with equal distribution between factions.\u00a0 For example, both factions only have one 90 point figure available as a common (Hercules<\/strong>\u00a0or\u00a0She-Hulk<\/strong><\/a>), and only one 80 point uncommon (both versions of Spider-Man) with no 90 point uncommons.<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s take a quick look at an example how this will work on game day:<\/strong><\/p>\n

You sit down at a table with three other players, all with your\u00a0\"Marvel<\/a>boosters in hand and ready to play.\u00a0 You are playing Pro-Registration, so to your left and right going around the table you have a pair of Anti-Registration players.\u00a0 You open your boosters at the same time, and verify the contents of the booster.<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s say your booster looks like this:<\/p>\n

Captain America 001<\/strong>\u00a0(blue base-common)
\nIron Man 002<\/strong>\u00a0(red base-common)
\nNamorita 033<\/strong>\u00a0(black base-common)
\nSpider-Man 014<\/strong>\u00a0(red base-uncommon)
\nFalcon 023<\/strong>\u00a0(blue base-rare)<\/p>\n

You immediately take out the\u00a0Namorita<\/strong>\u00a0(60 points),\u00a0Iron Man<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0(80 points), and\u00a0Spider-Man<\/strong>\u00a0(80 points) and pass the\u00a0Captain America<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0(80 points) and\u00a0Falcon<\/strong>\u00a0(70 points) to one of the Anti-registration players and receive two red based figures from the other Anti-Registration player.<\/p>\n

Suppose they hand you:<\/p>\n

Radioactive Man<\/strong>\u00a0(70 points)
\nYellowjacket<\/strong>\u00a0(60 points)<\/p>\n

This gives you a 350 point team to go up against three other players with a similar point total.\u00a0 Point totals do not have to be equal to balance out in a battle royale.\u00a0 These battles are a different breed entirely when compared to standard 2-player games.\u00a0 20 figures, all of the 60 to 90 point weight class, slugging it out on a smaller 2\u2019 x 2\u2019 map setup.<\/p>\n
