Now that\u00a0<\/span>we\u2019ve<\/span>\u00a0h<\/span>ad a ch<\/span>ance to see\u00a0<\/span>what’s<\/span>\u00a0in the upcoming Venom set,\u00a0<\/span>I\u2019ve<\/span> been itching to build.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Here's someth<\/span>ing I<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>cooked up with<\/span>\u00a0the new\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/span>Eddie Brock (ve016)<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>and his trait, \"<\/span><\/span>MAN OF A THOUSAND SECOND CHANCES\", which reads,\u00a0 \"At the beginning of the game, remove a character with\u00a0<\/span><\/span>'Venom'\u00a0<\/span><\/span>in its name from your Sideline, turn them to any click, and place them on this card. \/\/ Eddie Brock can use the displayed standard powers of the character on his card.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

We're<\/span> going to keep this one modern, but thanks to the new set, there\u00a0<\/span>is\u00a0<\/span>no shortage of options for Eddie to choose from.\u00a0<\/span>There is one\u00a0<\/span>particular option<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>I've<\/span>\u00a0been obsessing over<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>I'm<\/span>\u00a0talking about the 2\u00d72 beauty weighing in at 300 points, the Colossal of the Cretaceous Period,\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Venom T-Rex<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span>!<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

We're<\/span>\u00a0looking at 24 clicks of\u00a0<\/span>wall-shattering<\/span>, fang-chomping, symbiotic silliness for the low cost of one Eddie Brock and a little bit of support. The goal here is to get our Venom all the way to click 1, now they can do a bit of healing of their own, but\u00a0<\/span>we're<\/span>\u00a0going to need some help.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Eddie Brock (ve016)<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>needs to go down. Whether it be by our effects or our opponents, the whole point of the team is to turn Eddie into a Dinosaur. We have several ways to damage\u00a0<\/span>ourselves, and<\/span>\u00a0Eddie's plasticity on the back half of his dial can make him an annoying tie-up piece.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

<\/i><\/i><\/span>Wolverine, Lord of the Vampires<\/span><\/a><\/h4><\/div>
\n

Wolverine, Lord of the Vampires (st051)<\/span><\/span><\/strong>\u00a0is a fantastic attacker. We get\u00a0<\/span>great potential<\/span>\u00a0raw stats and no special powers, making it a strong counter to popular meta elements like Legacy Black Panther and Halt Mutant. His first special trait makes it much easier to stay on theme (Vampire Brood), and this team can really\u00a0<\/span>benefit<\/span>\u00a0from going first.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

<\/i><\/i><\/span>Ramonda<\/span><\/a><\/h4><\/div>
\n

Ramonda (bp208)<\/span><\/span><\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>doesn't<\/span>\u00a0mind taking a click or two of damage as her 18 defend moves up to a 19 on click 3, so\u00a0<\/span>she's<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>a great figure<\/span>\u00a0to heal Wolverine with the X-Men TA. She also has\u00a0<\/span>Support,<\/span>\u00a0along with Free: Support, giving us a\u00a0<\/span>couple<\/span>\u00a0of chances to heal our dinosaur. The Black Panther TA is a welcome addition for the wildcards, too.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

<\/i><\/i><\/span>Dr. Curt Connors<\/span><\/a><\/h4><\/div>
\n

Dr. Curt Connors (spv013)\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/strong>could be another Ramonda, but\u00a0<\/span>we'll<\/span>\u00a0take the Perplex\u00a0<\/span>here, along\u00a0<\/span>with a longer dial if we need someone to suck up some clicks. He can copy either the Avengers TA or Black Panther TA.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

<\/i><\/i><\/span>Scarlet Witch<\/span><\/a><\/h4><\/div>
\n

Scarlet Witch (m400KQ-004)<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>gives us access to\u00a0<\/span>all of<\/span>\u00a0the support powers\u00a0<\/span>we're<\/span>\u00a0looking\u00a0<\/span>for, like<\/span>\u00a0Telekinesis, Perplex, Probability Control, and Outwit that we so desperately need, and\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Copycat (micnb001)\u00a0<\/span><\/span>makes it twice as nice.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

<\/i><\/i><\/span>Black Symbiote<\/span><\/a><\/h4><\/div>
\n

Black Symbiote (spv008a)\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/strong>is another good piece to soak up damage and can give Venom Rex Super Strength and Steal Energy.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

<\/i><\/i><\/span>Steppenwolf<\/span><\/a><\/h4><\/div>
\n

Steppenwolf (b006)\u00a0<\/span><\/span>is here to give us leadership when Wol Vamp heals past his leadership clix. There are other options for cheap leadership that\u00a0<\/span>won't<\/span>\u00a0break theme, like\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Fenix (WK<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

<\/i><\/i><\/span>Diabolic Bargain<\/span><\/a><\/h4><\/div>
\n

Diabolic Bargain (cltrOS008)<\/span><\/span><\/strong>\u00a0is\u00a0<\/span>an easy way<\/span>\u00a0to damage Eddie if our opponent\u00a0<\/span>won't<\/span>\u00a0do it for us.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

<\/i><\/i><\/span>Soul Siphon<\/span><\/a><\/h4><\/div>
\n

Soul Siphon (cltrOS007)<\/span><\/span><\/strong>\u00a0is another opportunity to heal V-Rex for\u00a0<\/span>free and<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>damage the Black Symbiote. This can also be used to damage Eddie if needed.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

<\/i><\/i><\/span>Concealed Costume<\/span><\/a><\/h4><\/div>
\n

Concealed Costume (veOS004)<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>keeps our Thunder Lizard from going extinct before we have a chance to heal him.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

<\/i><\/i><\/span>Alien Hunger<\/span><\/a><\/h4><\/div>
\n

Alien Hunger (veOS005)<\/span><\/span><\/strong>\u00a0gives us the most potential to heal the big guy, a perfect blades roll can lead to double digit clicks thanks to his\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Devour\u00a0<\/span><\/span>special power and\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Chomp\u00a0<\/span><\/span>trait.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

The last 2 sideline spots go to\u00a0<\/span>Animal Man<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/b>and\u00a0<\/span>Venom T-Rex<\/b><\/span>. I avoided adding most of the top-played pieces in the current meta, but I'll put Animal Man on every team until they tell me I can't. Wolverine, LotV can grab an offensive power like Super Strength or Close Combat Expert (giving him a 15 attack 6 damage) for the Alpha and either Combat Reflexes, Shape Change, or Impervious for the ensuing counter strike.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

With the remaining\u00a015 points,\u00a0we'll\u00a0equip the\u00a0<\/span>Indigo Ring (lls008)<\/b><\/span>\u00a0to Ramonda to squeeze out a little extra, and Scarlet Witch can be equipped with the\u00a0<\/span>Ring of Telekinesis (DNDX-s004)<\/b><\/span>\u00a0for free, so\u00a0that's\u00a0a\u00a0no-brainer.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The final 5 points will be used for the\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Snake\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/span>Pit<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>effect<\/span>\u00a0terrain, as we can always use more ways to ping Eddie and the Black Symbiote. Dino Venom would love the extra\u00a0<\/span>healing,<\/span>\u00a0so<\/span>\u00a0the\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Heart Shaped Herb<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0makes sense. I always like having some 2\u00d71 Elevated Terrain to break up adjacency or get that last click of\u00a0<\/span>damage,<\/span>\u00a0so<\/span>\u00a0the\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Shelf<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>gets the last spot.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

<\/div><\/div><\/span>

The Strategy<\/span><\/h3><\/span>
<\/div><\/div><\/div>

Now the strategy here is\u00a0<\/span>pretty straightforward<\/span>: Heal up<\/span>\u00a0our Vampire. Make a Dinosaur. Heal the Dinosaur. If we go f<\/span>irst,<\/span>\u00a0we<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>have the chance to use the X-Men TA on our Wolverine at least three times. I recommend using Eddie, Black\u00a0<\/span>Symbiote, and\u00a0<\/span>Ramonda. Scarlet Witch can Free: Telekinesis to place the Snake Pit under Eddie.\u00a0<\/span>We'll<\/span>\u00a0have to use one of the Perplexes into Scarlet Witch's range, and we can put the other two into Ramonda's\u00a0<\/span>Defense, as<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>she's<\/span>\u00a0the only figure that may have to give up First Turn Immunity. The fourth action can be used to eith<\/span>er pick up the Shelf with Wolverine or Power: Telekinesis Ramonda back to safety.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>

We\u00a0<\/span>can't<\/span>\u00a0know for sure what the opposition will do, but there\u00a0<\/span>isn't<\/span>\u00a0much they can do to take us off course. Our second turn should be used to heal the Lord of the Vampires, hurt Eddie, and score some points.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>

\u00a0At the beginning of\u00a0<\/span>Turn 2, Eddie<\/span>\u00a0will take a Click from the Snake\u00a0<\/span>Pit, and<\/span>\u00a0you have the option of using Diabolic Bargain to do an\u00a0<\/span>additional<\/span>\u00a0damage. With 2 uses of the X-Men TA, we only have about a 45% chance of taking damage both times, so hardly a guarantee that\u00a0<\/span>we'll<\/span>\u00a0be able to KO Eddie this turn, but we have Soul Siphon in our pocket if the pressure is on.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>

Lord of the Vampires should be on\u00a0<\/span>Click 1, and\u00a0<\/span>a clear line of TK gives him full map reach. His high raw stats and Precision Strike with Exploit make him a threat to most pieces in the game. Send him out to erase a threat and score some points. With all the perplexes and Animal Man,\u00a0<\/span>we'll<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>have no problem getting his Defense to a 23 and his Attack above 15 with up to 6 damage on two targets.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>

If Eddie missed taking damage on one or\u00a0<\/span>both of the X-Men<\/span>\u00a0TA rolls, you might find a situation to save Soul Siphon, but getting\u00a0<\/span>Venosaurus<\/span>\u00a0out early is beneficial in most scenarios.\u00a0<\/span>We'll<\/span>\u00a0generate Venom T-Rex from Eddie's card on click 22<\/span>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>You'll<\/span>\u00a0heal 1 click from Concealed\u00a0<\/span>Costume, and<\/span>\u00a0an entire turn of IMMUNE means the dial is only going to be clicking in the right direction this turn. Ramonda will get a Free: Support here doing 2-4 clicks of healing. If you\u00a0<\/span>haven't<\/span>\u00a0used your Soul Siphon, you get another\u00a0<\/span>1-3 clicks, while also\u00a0<\/span>KOing<\/span>\u00a0Black Symbiote to give Steal Energy and Super Strength to your Terrible Thunder Lizard.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>

Your last action of the turn\u00a0<\/span>should be used to heal even more, either by attacking or using Power: Support from Ramonda for another 2-4 clicks. Healing from the Herb should get you another click at the end of the turn, leaving you with a fully healed Vampire and an IMMUNE Dinosaur around click 15-13 with potential to be as high as click 3. Any remaining perplexes should be used to keep Ramond<\/span>a safe, as she has the best chance to get us all the way to top dial.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>

At this point, you just need to land the plane.
