Step 3: Build!<\/p>\n
Players will build a 200-point HeroClix team out of the X-Men Regenesis figures they\u2019ve collected from Steps 1 and 2.<\/p>\n

Players play a Swiss-style event using 2×2 maps. The top finishers each month will earn prizes and points toward the Grand Prize.<\/p>\n

We wanted to help retailers understand why we chose this format. The program, in many ways, has been engineered to get players coming to your store for three consecutive months.<\/p>\n
Players picking a side at the beginning helps emphasize the theme and storyline of this Organized Play event. It also means they\u2019ll have a chance to win something special, and there will be more than one path through the program to earn the best stuff (the path of agreeing with Wolverine or Cyclops).<\/p>\n
Players who attend all three months will have the best chance of winning the Grand Prize at the end, but also will be able to collect more of the exclusive foil packs from the Regenesis CDUs, containing hard to get, powerful, and awesome looking figures. Part of the strength of these figures lies in the fact that they all have multiple starting lines for team building flexibility! Players will be able to trade with other people at these events too.<\/p>\n
Stores being limited to how much exclusive product they can order each month helps keep the content exclusive, and desirable to players. With the event series only lasting three months, it\u2019s an easy call to action to get players to return for a shot at the Grand Prize. Even if someone misses a month, they\u2019ll have a chance at taking home the Grand Prize.<\/p>\n
Players who don\u2019t have a large HeroClix collection can start out this event on equal footing with the other players in your store, so even the casual crowd should feel encouraged to participate. The pool of figures being relatively small means that they\u2019re likely to get to watch the most experienced players at your venue play some of the same figures they will \u2013 which is a great way to learn a thing or two for their next match.<\/p>\n
How should stores order product to participate in Marvel HeroClix: Wolverine vs. Cyclops \u2013 X-Men Regenesis Storyline Organized Play (OP)?<\/strong><\/p>\nDistributors will let stores know how many countertop display units (CDUs) and OP kits they\u2019re limited to. For each month, stores will order 1 CDU for every 8 players they expect to attend. Stores will also order up 1 OP kit (minimum 1) for every 2 CDUs they order for a given month. Stores cannot order more kits for month 2 than they ordered for month 1 nor can they order more kits for month 3 than they ordered for month 2. For example:<\/p>\n
\n- Example Comics expects 20 players in their Month 1 event. They order 3 CDUs and two Month 1 OP Kits.<\/li>\n
- In Month 2, they expect 16 players. They order 2 CDUs and one Month 2 OP Kit.<\/li>\n
- In Month 3, they\u2019re expecting 20 players again. They order 3 CDUs and they want to order two Month 3 OP Kits, but they can only order one since they only ordered one Month 2 OP Kit.<\/li>\n

How do stores qualify to participate in this Summer OP event?<\/strong><\/p>\nStores will be selected based on a combination of their OP participation and sales history. How does the event work?<\/strong><\/p>\nDuring the first month, players will decide if they agree with Wolverine or Cyclops (they won\u2019t be able to change this later). During months 2 and 3, players will be able to bring the figures they\u2019ve already collected during the event in addition to the figures they\u2019ll open from foil packs in that month. Please contact your local store directly to ask about their registration policies.<\/em><\/p>\n The Marvel HeroClix: Wolverine vs. Cyclops: X-Men Regenesis<\/strong> Storyline Organized Play (OP) Event Series features ALL NEW and UNIQUE content based on the Marvel Comics struggle between Wolverine and Cyclops over the true spirit of what it means to be X-Men.<\/p>\n The Marvel HeroClix: Wolverine vs. Cyclops: X-Men Regenesis<\/strong> is a three-month tournament series held at participating game stores.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div> Distributors will let stores know how many Countertop Display Units (CDUs) they can order. For every 2 CDUs they can order, they may order 1 Organized Play (OP) Kit. Each CDU contains 24 foil packs and is intended to support 8 players. Each OP kit is intended to support 16 players.<\/p>\n Stores can\u2019t order more of the Month 2 OP Kit than they did of the Month 1 OP Kit, and they can\u2019t order more of the Month 3 OP Kit than they did of the Month 2 OP Kit. The Month 3 OP kit contains the Month 3 prizes, and the Grand Prizes.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div> Each Marvel HeroClix: Wolverine vs. Cyclops: X-Men Regenesis<\/strong> OP Kit contains eight (8) double-sided HeroClix maps which are specifically designed to be used as either a standard 2\u2019 x 3\u2019 map or a 2\u2019 x 2\u2019 map.<\/p>\n When using the maps in a 2\u2019 x 2\u2019 format, the squares outside of the dotted orange lines are not used (so the playable map area is 2\u2019 x 2\u2019) and players use the squares inside the dotted purple lines as starting areas.<\/p>\n RETAILER NOTE:<\/strong> The OP Kits contain enough maps to support 16 players each. If you anticipate large turnout, you\u2019ll want to save maps from Month 1 to use in Months 2 and\/or 3. You can always give them out as prizing during Month 3 or in later tournaments.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div> During the first month<\/strong>, players will pick if they\u2019re siding with Wolverine or Cyclops. They can\u2019t change this later!<\/em> If they pick Wolverine, they\u2019ll only be able to win prizes associated with Wolverine, and if they pick Cyclops, they\u2019ll only be able to win prizes associated with Cyclops.<\/p>\n Step 1: Open New Figures<\/p>\n Players will get to open 3 single-figure foil packs that are exclusive to the OP series.<\/p>\n Step 2: Trade<\/p>\n Players will then have a chance (each month) to trade one figure with another player in their event. Trading time should be limited to help the event go smoothly.<\/p>\n Step 3: Build!<\/p>\n Players will build a 200-point HeroClix team out of the X-Men Regenesis figures they\u2019ve collected from Steps 1 and 2.<\/p>\n Step 4: Play!<\/p>\n Players play a Swiss-style event using 2×2 maps. The top finishers each month will earn prizes and points toward the Grand Prize.<\/p>\n Step 5: Come Back!<\/p>\n In Months 2 and 3, players should bring back their X-Men Regenesis figures from the previous months in case they want to use them on their team or trade them away.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div> Players will compete to earn figures corresponding to the faction they selected at the beginning of the event series (Wolverine -or- Cyclops).<\/p>\n Month 1:<\/strong> Month 2:<\/strong> Month 3:<\/strong> Players who earn the most points during the entire event series for their faction will receive the grand prize figure for their faction.<\/p>\n Grand Prize:<\/strong> Players will compete to earn figures corresponding to the faction they selected at the beginning of the event series (Wolverine -or- Cyclops).<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div> X-Men Regenesis OP \u2013 Why this format?<\/strong><\/p>\n X-Men Regenesis is a brand-new format for Organized Play. We wanted to help retailers understand why we chose this format. The program, in many ways, has been engineered to get players coming to your store for three consecutive months.<\/p>\n Players picking a side at the beginning helps emphasize the theme and storyline of this Organized Play event. It also means they\u2019ll have a chance to win something special, and there will be more than one path through the program to earn the best stuff (the path of agreeing with Wolverine or Cyclops).<\/p>\n Players who attend all three months will have the best chance of winning the Grand Prize at the end, but also will be able to collect more of the exclusive foil packs from the Regenesis CDUs, containing hard to get, powerful, and awesome looking figures. Part of the strength of these figures lies in the fact that they all have multiple starting lines for team building flexibility! Players will be able to trade with other people at these events too.<\/p>\n Stores being limited to how much exclusive product they can order each month helps keep the content exclusive, and desirable to players. With the event series only lasting three months, it\u2019s an easy call to action to get players to return for a shot at the Grand Prize. Even if someone misses a month, they\u2019ll have a chance at taking home the Grand Prize.<\/p>\n Players who don\u2019t have a large HeroClix collection can start out this event on equal footing with the other players in your store, so even the casual crowd should feel encouraged to participate. The pool of figures being relatively small means that they\u2019re likely to get to watch the most experienced players at your venue play some of the same figures they will \u2013 which is a great way to learn a thing or two for their next match.<\/p>\n How should stores order product to participate in Marvel HeroClix: Wolverine vs. Cyclops \u2013 X-Men Regenesis Storyline Organized Play (OP)?<\/strong><\/p>\n Distributors will let stores know how many countertop display units (CDUs) and OP kits they\u2019re limited to. For each month, stores will order 1 CDU for every 8 players they expect to attend. Stores will also order up 1 OP kit (minimum 1) for every 2 CDUs they order for a given month. Stores cannot order more kits for month 2 than they ordered for month 1 nor can they order more kits for month 3 than they ordered for month 2. For example:<\/p>\n OP Kits and CDUs are only available while supplies last! Contact your distributor to find out how many CDUs and OP kits you\u2019ll be able to order each month. If supplies are available, distributors will let stores order additional CDUs in Month 3 and the month after the series completes (in case they\u2019d like to run it again).<\/p>\n How do stores qualify to participate in this Summer OP event?<\/strong><\/p>\n Stores will be selected based on a combination of their OP participation and sales history. Stores not selected can ask their distributor to be considered for this event series. Stores with a better history of sales and WIN participation will be able to order more product.<\/p>\n How does the event work?<\/strong><\/p>\n During the first month, players will decide if they agree with Wolverine or Cyclops (they won\u2019t be able to change this later). Players will build a team based on the above rules and play a Swiss-style tournament using 2×2 maps (provided in the OP kit).<\/p>\n During months 2 and 3, players will be able to bring the figures they\u2019ve already collected during the event in addition to the figures they\u2019ll open from foil packs in that month. They\u2019ll also be able to perform a single trade if they\u2019d like to from the figures they have accumulated from previous months of this program at this store as well as the 3 foil packs they open for this month. Players will play a tournament like they did in the first month. At the end of the third month, the top players who agreed with Wolverine or Cyclops will each get Grand Prize LE figures depending on who they agreed with!<\/p>\n For the record keeping aspects of the event (what figures players have, or which players have earned tournament points) we recommend the store having somewhere everyone can upload photos (like a Facebook event).
