Q: How does it feel to be named 2015 World Champion in Star Trek: Attack Wing?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

It feels great to be the champion of Star Trek: Attack Wing. \u00a0It was a hard fought battle to the top! \u00a0It was even better that Joseph and I made it to the finals as we have had many grudge matches at our local venues.<\/p>\n

Q: What did you enjoy most about the competition?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I enjoyed all the friendly people at the tournament and the diverse backgrounds and ages. \u00a0I also thought the judges were great, and it was nice to have coverage from State of the Federation.<\/p>\n

Q: How did you come up with your winning fleet and what was your main strategy?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Joseph and I designed both our builds together over the span of a couple of weeks. \u00a0Our strategy was to use ships that hit hard with 2+ movement each turn which lead to having high captain skill. This was the best way to ensure victory by not allowing the opponent to hit you!<\/p>\n

Q: What were your fellow competitors like?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I’m sure everyone was playing to win, however, what came across was the excitement and the enjoyment of the game. \u00a0Thanks Robert for your planet camping build and Royce for lending me many older cards for the tournament!<\/p>\n

Q: What first brought you to Star Trek: Attack Wing and how long have you been playing it?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Chris Dove sat me down with his wife and asked me to try the game just once. \u00a0I was hooked from that moment on.<\/p>\n

Q: How often and where do you play Star Trek: Attack Wing?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

I play in Ontario mostly. \u00a0My favorite places are The Dragon in Guelph, 401 Games in Toronto and X Planet in Mississauga, because of the great owner.<\/p>\n

Q: What strategy or aspect of your game play do you believe lead to your victory over the other competitors?<\/strong><\/p>\n

For the Nationals, Joseph and I focused on denying actions by dishing out Auxiliary Tokens and hitting with attack 6 ships. \u00a0For the Worlds we focused on moving last and then being able to have additional moves to prevent people from shooting. \u00a0The 608 was the pinnacle of this idea with its extra movement and Magnetometric Guided Charges that prevented opponents from rolling Defense Dice.<\/p>\n

Q: Do you plan on fighting for your title and perhaps returning next year?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I would love the challenge of defending my title!<\/p>\n

Q: What advice would you give others trying to achieve the World Champion title?<\/strong><\/p>\n

My advice is to play with others and keep testing out strategies. \u00a0Also play without faction restrictions once in a while to start seeing the crazy combos that are out there.\u00a0State of the Federation is a great way to hear new tips and strategies.<\/p>\n

Q: Is there anything else you would like to add?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I had a fantastic time playing at Worlds; this experience was amplified by the competitors and the judges! \u00a0Thanks Ben for looking up the rules and for our finals in Ottawa! I may have taken the title, but it was a toss-up between Joseph and I in the finals as it always is when we play.<\/p>\n<\/div>
