Greetings HeroClix fans!

Today it’s Maximum Preview day! Not just one or two figures. No no, my friends. For previewing the main title character in Marvel HeroClix: Deadpool and X-Force, we have a whopping 8 versions of Deadpool and all of them are interchangeable on your HeroClix force with the Shifting Focus trait!  Get ready for those Pre-Release Events by mastering Shifting Focus and visit the WizKids Info Network to find a Pre-Release near you today!

For those ‘Clix accountants who like to keep track, we have one common, one uncommon, 5 rares, and one rare prime Deadpool that can change personalities at a moment’s notice using the Shifting Focus: Deadpool trait.

The Shifting Focus traits read: “Give Deadpool a free action if he began your turn on the map. Replace him with another character with this trait on the same click number. “

Simple enough, right? All the Deadpools are priced at a generous 75 points for easy team building, but each version does have different roles to fill and even different keywords. Like the deranged voices in his head, Deadpool has a ‘Clix for every occasion. Let’s shake some hands and kiss some babies; time for the Deadpool Meet and Greet!

For starters, we have the 001a common Deadpool who brings a healthy mix of Merc related keywords with Agency X, Deadpool Corps, Six Pack, Thunderbolts, Weapon X, and Assassin. You can make the most of those team affiliations with his Spider-Man  ‘wild card’ team ability. You’ll notice a zero range value here as this is your dedicated close combat Deadpool. He possesses Sidestep to get close where he is hardest to hit with Combat Reflexes on top of an 18 defense value. Mid dial he relies on Super Senses to dodge incoming hits. He is able to use Blades/Claws/Fangs for his whole 7 click dial, either possessing the power mid dial or by his special attack power No Sharper Than A Serpent’s Tooth Is…A Sword! that bookends his dial. When he uses this special, the minimum result of the damage roll for Blades/Claws/Fangs is his printed damage value. Late dial he gains a movement special called The First Cut Is The Deepest that lets him use Flurry but he can only make the second attack if he deals 3 or more damage during the first attack. He also has Indomitable so he can go all ginzu-spin cycle without pushing damage.

So that’s your up-close-and-personal Deadpool, what about your long-distance-relationship (from 7 squares away) Deadpool? So glad you asked.

The Uncommon 017 Deadpool keeps the same set of keywords as the common Deadpool but loses the ‘wild card’ team ability and Indomitable. However, he gains a 7 range value with 2 potential targets, Improved Targeting: Ignore Hindering Terrain, and a trait Bang Bang Bang Bang Bang! that accrues Bang tokens whenever Deadpool hits one or more targets with a range attack. Once per turn you can remove a Bang token from his card to reroll his attack roll. He maintains Sidestep on movement but has it for more clicks than the previous version. He starts and finishes with Energy Shield/Deflection on defense with some Toughness in the middle. With all those lovely pouches on his costume, you know he has to have all sorts of different ammunition for whatever mark he is collecting on and not just shooting his mouth off. He starts with the armor piercing rounds with Penetrating/Psychic Blast, mid dial he takes more time to line up his shots with Ranged Combat Expert, and for his last two clicks he pulls out the big booms with Pulse Wave.

I know what you’re saying, those are pretty standard for what we expect from the Merc With A Mouth. You’re in the market for something a little more off the wall? Well, how about bouncing off of ankles instead?

The Rare 033 Deadpool only has the Deadpool Corps keyword, but that’s not all the weirdness he brings to the table. His first click he is very range combat oriented with Running Shot, Energy Explosion (with 7 range and 2 targets), and Toughness. Take a hit or give him a push or Shifting Focus another Deadpool onto this pieces clicks 2 through 6 and you get something completely different with two special powers of note. Ride The Rhino on damage gives him the Tiny Size symbol and a range value of 3 and he can make a close or ranged combat attack for free once a turn when a larger friendly character carries him at least 4 squares. On movement, he has Like A Virus that can keep him adjacent to an opposing character after they are moved or placed. This all means your friendly characters can carry Deadpool around like a keychain, you could make free attacks with him even when he has action tokens, and he’ll be a pretty strong annoyance with Energy Shield/Deflection or Combat Reflexes on defense and Precision Strike on attack to make sure his one damage value gets through. On his last click, he recovers from being tiny and his is hangry for tacos with Hypersonic Speed, Energy Explosion, Invulnerability, and Ranged Combat Expert.

Now, all that work and no play makes Deadpool a mopey mercenary. What better way to cheer him than to let him break the fourth wall and read his favorite comics in his bathrobe and bunny slippers?

034a, b, and c Deadpool all have the same dials, Spider-Man ‘wild card’ team ability, and Agency X, Deadpool Corps, and Assassin keywords; but you’ll notice some other different keywords and special powers that match the comic book each is reading. They all have Phasing/Teleport and Defend on the front half of their dials and Stealth and Super Senses on the back half along with a range value of 4.

They each have a trait, I’m Going To Flip Ahead A Few Pages…and a special damage power, Reading Up that interact with a particular keyword to let him use Probability Control, but only to target characters with that keyword, in the case of the trait; and in the case of Reading Up, he can use Perplex twice, once on himself and once on a character with that keyword. 034a Deadpool is reading the classic first issue of X-Men and possesses the X-Men keyword and can affect characters that share it, 034b Deadpool is reading an issue of Uncanny X-Force and has the X-Force keyword and can affect characters that share it, and lastly 034c Deadpool is reading one of his own books and possesses the Heroes For Hire keyword and can affect characters that share it. Even if you don’t get to benefit from his keywords, or favorite comics, this is a very defensive Deadpool, able to retreat to a better position or share an 18 defense value with his friends, and of course he can always Perplex or Probability Control himself.

Phew, don’t worry guys. We’re almost there. Only two more Deadpools to go.

037a Deadpool trades his traditional black and red togs for black and white. Being a little more selective with keywords, he has X-Force, Assassin, Detective, and Soldier. This is the mouthy annoyance and harassment Deadpool with a dial bookended by Super Sense and a taste of Shape Change, some Combat Reflexes and Exploit Weakness mid dial to press a close combat advantage, a 7 range value to remain a threat from a distance, and a full dial of Phasing/Teleport either form possessing the power normally or granted by his movement special Yoo Hoo, I’m Over Here Now, Spanky. This trait also lets him use it as a free action if you roll a d6 and replace his movement value with the result. That means, he has the ability to phase through a wall and have the opportunity to attack, or make an attack and slip away without needing to make a breakaway roll.

But wait, where is Deadpool’s crazy healing factor in all these versions? Say no more. We have one more to go and here it is.

The green ringed Prime 037b Deadpool goes for the black and yellow X-Men suit to reflect his time as a ‘probationary X-Man’, complete with the X-Men team ability and keyword alongside Weapon X and Assassin. This is the Deadpool to be Shifting Focus to when you know you are going to take a big hit because of his trait, Healing Factor On The Double. When he takes damage, after actions resolve, roll a d6 and heal him of half the result. If that wasn’t enough healing, he has Regeneration on his last two clicks. Rounding out his dial he has Sidestep and Phasing/Teleport to get around and Toughness and Combat Reflexes on defense to keep him from getting too dinged up while he tries to regrow limbs.

That’s your Crazy Eights!

Marvel HeroClix: Deadpool and X-Force is shaping up to be an incredible set full of fan favorites and characters that have never been seen in HeroClix before. Stay tuned here and keep an eye on the WizKids Info Network for Pre-Release and sealed booster tournaments near you.
