First, we’re looking at his pre-mutation human form. In this form Rocksteady is a 50-point piece with a range of 4 squares and 5 clicks of life. Rocksteady can be played on both Foot Clan and Purple Dragon themed teams, making him a good fit for when you feel like being properly villainous. He has a good variety of standard powers, including Running ShotPlasticity, Energy Shield/Deflection, Willpower, and Close Combat Expert, along with Improved Targeting: Ignores Hindering Terrain. Of course, there’s always a way for Rocksteady to go from human thug to mutated rhinoceros, and that’s via the Volunteer to Become Stronger trait. This trait states that when Rocksteady KO’s an opposing character, rolls a critical hit, or is healed, after actions resolve place a Mutagen token on his card, and you may reroll a d6 that can’t be rerolled. If the result plus the number of Mutagen tokens is 7 or more, replace this character with a character on the same click number named Rocksteady with a point value of 100 or less, then heal that character 1 click.

The mutated version of Rocksteady can be played on TMNT Villain, Animal, and Brute themed teams, and grants you a character with 9 clicks of life for 70 points with a range of 4 squares. First, lets look at his special defensive power, Banished. This is a Stop click appearing on his sixth click of life, and states that for the rest of the game Rocksteady cannot be healed. Luckily, this is the point where he transitions from an attacker with Running Shot, Sidestep, Invulnerability, Toughness, Perplex, Close Combat Expert, and Empower, to a character that 0’s out on damage but picks up Support to go along with Toughness and Sidestep.

That’s it for today, ‘Clix fans! We hope you’ve enjoyed these iterations of Rocksteady. Stay tuned to the for more previews as the release of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles HeroClix: Shredder’s Return draws closer!
